Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I designed and built our HRIS integrations with Rippling and BambooHR. Instead of manually copying data on hired candidates from Ashby to their HRIS, customers can do it with the click of a button!

Something I've helped the team with...

I built a script that enabled our team to import our customers' candidate data from CSV files. It's enabled us to work with technology partners and recruiting firms that haven't yet integrated with Ashby.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The flexibility and breadth of the product was definitely something that surprised me when I joined Ashby. I was impressed by all of the existing capabilities of the product, and I'm excited to help expand and improve on what we've already built!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've designed and created some of the early building blocks we use to build new features (think Legos). It's been great to see the team embrace this way of building and watch the building blocks evolve without my help!

Something I've helped the team with...

I've built and continue to expand the internal knowledge base of our industry and our customers. It's critical to help the team make independent product and engineering decisions.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The team has consistently focused on the long term even as I've stepped away from engineering.

Abhik Pramanik
Abhik Pramanik

Co-founder & VP of Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built Ashby's design system. It's enabled the team to design and launch well designed products; often without a full-time designer! While we have room to improve, customers consistently comment on how well designed Ashby is.

Something I've helped the team with...

I implemented code that tagged all client Sentry errors with a link to a video recording of the user session. It was a small change but it continues to help us create repro steps for obscure bugs and fix them, often without a user even reporting it!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I continue to be surprised at the depth we can go with each feature we've built. While we can improve our customer's lives with a first version, it often uncovers even more impactful problems or inefficiencies we can solve. We've only scratched the surface of what Ashby can do for our customers!

Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I moved our calendar and email sync from a brute force cron job to real-time sync. It's helped both customers and our team: customers now have the most up-to-date information when scheduling and following up with candidates and we've able to scale sync as we grow with minimal effort.

Something I've helped the team with...

I've added monitoring and observability to a lot of our infrastructure at Ashby: Datadog monitors to alert us when things go wrong, linking Sentry issues to DataDog traces, logging SQL explains for inefficient SQL generated by our query engine. It's greatly reduced the stress of being on-call, provided context when debugging a product issue, and helped us proactively catch performance bottlenecks before they become a real problem.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The impact that a small, engineering-focused team can have in building and shaping such a complex product.

Ben Asher
Ben Asher

Engineering Leadership

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built Ashby's in-app e-signature feature. Before, our customers had to generate the document in Ashby, upload it to an e-signature service like DocuSign, set up the signature blocks, get the signatures, download the signed document, and upload it back to Ashby. Now this entire process is automated!

Something I've helped the team with...

In my first month, I upgraded many of our core libraries to the latest major version (e.g. Create React App) and migrated us from TSLint to ESLint. With these changes, other engineers had faster build and reload times and more issues caught in CI (versus in production)!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I continue to be surprised at how well we live our "build for the long term" engineering principle. It's amazing how often I find myself building off of the building blocks of others, versus having to build new one-off components.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've helped streamline and automate a number of small processes so that account executives can spend more time speaking with customers and less time entering data.

Something I've helped the team with...

In my first quarter I collaborated with Jacob to land Ashby's largest customer yet!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It's so exciting to see the passion for our product and the volume of people that reach out to us to learn more. It's a testament to the quality and power of the product our team has built.

Harriet Johnston

VP of Marketing

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

When I joined, Ashby had no public site and only a few hundred customers. Today we serve 2,900+ customers, have grown 135% YoY, and operate as a remote team across 20+ countries. Most of all, I’m proud of the marketing team we’ve built: people who show up for each other, move fast, obsess over details, and keep raising the bar—across our community program, podcast, benchmark reports, and Ashby One, all the way to delightfully scrappy ABM gifts and our clothing lines the team is pushing for better and the energy it creates is infectious.

Something I've helped the team with...

Marketing 😎

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The velocity and consistency at which we deliver against our product roadmap and the cascading implications that has in terms of the quality, impact, and planning that it enables in marketing.

Emily Ellis

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built the default dashboards presented on each job. While our reporting features are very powerful, not everyone has the time to build reports. The default job dashboard gives our customers a comprehensive set of metrics out of the box. I knew it would be useful, but I was still surprised at how enthusiastic our customers were about it when it launched.

Something I've helped the team with...

We'd sometimes ship bugs that didn't take into consideration all our product types. I modified our data generation script to create multiple organizations of different product types in our testing environments. Now both engineers and QA can be more comprehensive in their testing without manual setup.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

That "this meeting could have been an email" isn't just a joke. People actually send emails here instead of defaulting to Zoom calls. It's refreshing.

Chris Lee

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Scheduling improvements! It's now much easier for our customers to pick the scheduling method they want.

Something I've helped the team with...

I wrote about the "Jobs to Be Done" framework and to help product engineers think through user problems.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The product team structure. I love working with people who go to first principles and think critically about how products are built — the unique team structure of ownership & autonomy at Ashby is a testament to that.

Kelsey Peterson

VP of Customer Success

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’m proud of how intentionally we show up for our customers, guiding them toward their goals and intended business outcomes in a thoughtful way (and enjoying the journey alongside them).

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve helped deepen our partnership with Product, a material differentiator that allows us to address customer opportunities swiftly and with great impact.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The team alignment with our Operating Principles is remarkable. The principles are not a loose guide; they're actively practiced each and every day with meaningful results.

Shane Gallaher

VP of Finance

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I'm really proud of the financial model and reporting infrastructure I've built, which gives us a foundation that’s both robust and flexible enough to scale with the business. It’s been rewarding to see that work directly support everything from our fundraising efforts to helping leaders across the company make more data-informed decisions. I’m also proud to have made a couple of great hires on our accounting team — building a team that’s not just strong technically, but also collaborative and aligned with our values.

Something I've helped the team with...

Whether it's evaluating headcount plans, helping leaders understand unit economics and other metrics, or navigating tradeoffs, I try to make team finance feel like a partner to the business — not a gatekeeper.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How consistently we’ve executed against our most important priorities — even as the business has grown quickly and substantially. That kind of focus and follow-through is rare, and it makes me really excited to be a part of Ashby.

Peterson Hyppolite
Peterson Hyppolite

Sales

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Chapman and I worked on a document to breakdown two competitors of Ashby to help the Sales team improve their pitch to customers on our value add and key differentiators.

Something I've helped the team with...

On the Sales team, it’s important to have strong messaging around our product. I contribute to building messaging templates that the Go-to-Market team uses to engage prospects and make sure that we are highlighting the key aspects of the platform from a perspective of a day-to-day user.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It’s surprising how much Ashby's leadership believes in a holistic approach to your work and life balance. People say they care about the two but, when the rubber meets the road, work tends to come first. Not with Ashby. If you’re not doing well personally and need time, that is priority, and you see it in how leadership discusses work when you need to take time off.

Jim Miller

VP of People and Talent Acquisition

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

A consistent, cohort based hiring process that enables Ashby to hire the best talent across the whole pool of candidates for any given job. This has enabled us to focus on pipeline, process elements that impact "Quality of Hire," and creates a choice scenario for hiring managers at the end of our hiring activities.

Something I've helped the team with...

A fast and efficient pipeline generation model that helps all of our hiring managers see immediate, high caliber talent pools for their roles. I wear many hats within this, focusing on where I can make the biggest impact to help Ashby grow! Rolling my sleeves up, screening resumes, sourcing candidates, and scheduling interviews gives me the deepest look into the capability of our product. I can help leverage my deep talent experience to help any teammate, from Engineering to Customer Success, Marketing to Sales have more context around how our customers use our product.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The intentionality in everything we do. It's very special.

Colin Howe

Engineering Leadership

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've been having a lot of deep technical conversations with the team on topics like database query performance, capacity planning, and infrastructure changes. This has led to a project that should increase query performance by 100x!

Something I've helped the team with...

I've improved our alerting system so that engineers have fewer distractions and even more time to focus.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The thoughtful passion that runs through the engineering team. Proposals and specs often get a lot of feedback — and it's feedback that matters and written in a way that really helps.

Morten Bentsen
Morten Bentsen

Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've built an integration for doing background checks with the click of a button (using Checkr). The integration allows the user to stay in Ashby and keep focus on the hiring process. Our own hiring managers use it for every hire and love it!

Something I've helped the team with...

At Ashby, we're obsessed about writing technical specs and documentation when starting a new project. I helped introduce a new process to improve collaboration in the spec-writing phase and ensure a broader perspective from the beginning. The feedback from the engineering team has only been positive.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I was most surprised about how well the team is collaborating. Ashby has an extremely talented team and someone is always ready to help out. There's a high amount of trust and lot of focus on knowledge sharing, documentation and distribution of decisions.

Sheanee Michaud

Customer Support

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I'm working on a workflow to improve our process around collecting feature requests from our customers and reaching out once a feature is released. I love the work our team puts into delighting our customers!

Something I've helped the team with...

I've started drafting internal product documentation for our Support team. I love documenting and consolidating this information in one place for everyone to access.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Ashby is a customizable product which makes it a very powerful tool to use. Not all companies and jobs are the same, and I love how flows within Ashby can be easily adjusted to fit business needs.

Willem Wijnans
Willem Wijnans

Marketing

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

As the first non-eng hire in Europe I've helped set the foundation on how we go-to-market in EMEA.

Something I've helped the team with...

I helped our Go-To-Market folks out with talk-tracks on what recruiters and Head of Talents want to see during a demo: the complete journey of a candidate moving from application to offer and how we demo cNPS and surveys. Also I'm a big automation nerd, so built a lot of Alfred automation recipes for the Go-To-Market team.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Transparency. For instance, I find it refreshing that everyone has access to all our revenue metrics from progress against goal to churn.

Siebe Jan Stoker
Siebe Jan Stoker

Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built advanced filter functionality on Offer Custom Fields. This is an improvement on the flexible Custom Field concept, and unlocks a wide array of use-cases for our customers. Moreover, I think this feature is an example of how features can be more: they continue to build on top of existing building blocks. This is something that the Engineering team at Ashby excels at: developing not just particular features, but constructing building blocks and developing on top of those to incrementally improve the entire product over time.

Something I've helped the team with...

At Ashby, it's the norm to develop features in a way that promotes collaboration and allows others to move faster. During some of the features I've been working on, I've had an opportunity to improve internal tooling for developers. One example is a template string constructor to format Markdown messages. This allows us to automatically and uniformly escape user input, and format URLs, DateTime, and other objects without worrying about escaping or using the correct syntax.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Coming in, I knew there was a strong focus on thoughtful communication. What still caught me by surprise, however, is how much is actually communicated. I had the impression beforehand that people might choose to omit communicating something to avoid noise, or otherwise consolidate their messaging so it's a single interruption. I now realize it's more about managing the channels of communiciation rather than the amount of information. Because there's a broadly shared vision and understanding of how communication works at Ashby, it is relatively easy to deal with all the moving pieces and sharing of information.

Design & Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I designed and implemented the ability to multi-select candidates in our pipeline view and perform bulk actions. Customers use it multiple times daily and it saves them a lot of clicks!

Something I've helped the team with...

I revamped our input field components in our design system with a new more flexible API for layout and interactions. Other engineers have been able to quickly create visually pleasing forms and profile pages with minimal effort!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I'm surprised at how quickly the market has embraced us as a critical improvement to existing tools. People are really blown away when they see what we can do for them.

Product & Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built our Sourcing module from idea to implementation. The hiring process starts with sourcing great candidates and it's great to see how much our customers depend on it.

Something I've helped the team with...

At Ashby, we encourage everyone to write up and share learnings they have over the course of their work. I've helped contribute to the large repository of interesting and quirky technical lessons we've learned as a team. Writing and sharing these has really helped me consistently grow my skills while I've been here.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How much we've accomplished with a small team in such a short period of time. We've built powerful pieces of infrastructure that really give us the leverage to build features for our customers quickly and reliably.

Khay Nguyen
Khay Nguyen

Finance

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

One of the joys of working as a team of one is I’m able to impact (and learn about) many facets of the business, from sales to finance. I formalized deal flow management in our CRM, built all our sales metrics and ARR analytics from scratch, and wrangled our billings and invoicing process.

Something I've helped the team with...

I automated handoff of a customer from sales to customer success by configuring our CRM to automatically create customer check-in reminders once a deal is closed. Before this, we weren't able to keep track of customers and make sure they were having a great experience!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I joined Ashby when it was 7 people and I was expecting it to be more chaotic and disorganized (like the typical startup journey). While there are constantly new problems to solve, I'm delighted that decisions are made rationally with long-term success in mind. I also appreciate the clear standards around effective communication practices and documentation, something that most companies wait too long to implement.

Florian Krüger
Florian Krüger

Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I created a feature that enables our users to import data from CSV files and map it to any record or related record in Ashby. Previously, customers had to reach out to support, support reached out to an engineer, and the engineer had to configure and run a script to import the data. Now it's entirely self-serve.

Something I've helped the team with...

Originally meant to be a feature for our users, I added the ability to refresh the cache for reports. It coincidentally made the lives of engineers easier. If they changed any logic during development, they could easily refresh the cache to see the changes.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It's amazing to see how every single person on the team is dedicated to building the right thing the right way for the long term. I've never experienced a group of people being so aligned in creating and maintaining best practices, documentation, and tooling to make the best possible product.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've built our more of Ashby University and created guides on a number of Ashby's amazing features.

Something I've helped the team with...

I've created internal documentation for the Scaled Success team based around customer goals.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How thoughtful everything is! Every process is thought through, well-explained, and considerate. The communication guidelines ensure that everyone's time is valued and work/life balance is incredibly important here. That thoughtfulness definitely extends into the product too which is built with so much care. My first walkthrough of it blew my mind — it's so robust!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I set up our launch framework for new features. We now have a repeatable process to take new features to market and ensure Ashby remains seen as the most innovative and fast moving in our industry.

Something I've helped the team with...

Partnering with the Product team, I've helped maintain and keep our internal roadmap up to date. Team members have a reliable place to view what new features we'll be shipping soon.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How early we are and yet how much we've accomplished! This is the beginning of a long and successful run for our team.

People

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’m proud of laying the foundation for People Ops at Ashby - building and scaling everything from our compensation and benefits strategy to onboarding, compliance, systems, and performance to name a few. As the first people hire, I had the opportunity to shape our People function from the ground up. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how that work has allowed us to scale intentionally - not by copying what’s typical, but by creating programs and processes that truly fit our team, align with our principles, and support the kind of environment we want to build at Ashby.

Something I've helped the team with...

I work closely with employees and managers every day to support their experience at Ashby. I’ve built and scaled our People Ops function, including a growing team and the infrastructure behind our programs and processes. My focus has been on creating systems and processes that reflect our operating principles, support our teams as they scale, and create a clear and intentional employee experience. More than anything, I’m here to make sure people have what they need to do great work and thrive at Ashby.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The level of ownership across the team, and how genuinely it shows up in day-to-day work. Employees are trusted to make thoughtful decisions, take initiative, and follow through without unnecessary oversight. That trust is built into how we operate. We have a real culture of ownership at every level, grounded in high standards and accountability. It’s what lets us scale intentionally and build a team of leaders.

Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I moved our report generation to a worker-based infrastructure with caching. Running Ashby reports is computationally expensive because of how flexible it is and with this change, we've been able to increase the number and size of our customers without impacting our other features and services.

Something I've helped the team with...

I built our database schema migration system. It compares our Typescript models to what exists in our database and automatically generates an up and down migration that adds, removes, or updates tables, columns, foreign keys, and constraints.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How complex some of the problems are in recruiting. Giving talent teams the tools to get insights and be productive gives us really interesting problems to solve with software.

Ludovico Puccini

Sales

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Constantly updating and tweaking our documentation with more EMEA-focused content and collateral!

Something I've helped the team with...

After having read the book "RecOps: Recruiting Is Still Broken. Here Is How To Fix It" by James Colino, I wrote a summary for our Go-to-Market team to read through during their onboarding. It gave them a better understanding of the priorities and challenges of our customers from the get-go!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Constantly surprised by how thoughtfully we ship products and features that truly make a difference in the talent world, all in record time. Makes my life on the sales side extremely fun and dynamic!

Giao Bui
Giao Bui

Quality Assurance

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I tested new features and wrote test plans, which expands QA coverage and helps the team quickly ship high quality features and updates to customers.

Something I've helped the team with...

I helped pilot various automated testing tools to help our team decide on what best helps our needs. In the process, I learned new testing tips and best practices that I documented to share what I've learned. The QA team is a learning driven team, and we continue to add new documentation and share our learnings because we each have different experiences.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I'm surprised at how much a completely remote team can accomplish. Ashby is constantly changing, with new features and updates that are well thought out and tested.

Brooke Boniface

Revenue Operations

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built out our quarterly sales and churn forecast to help with Go-to-Market planning and resource allocation. These forecasts allow us to plan for the quarter and estimate where we are going to end the quarter in terms of Net and Gross ARR.

Something I've helped the team with...

I built out a new churn process to standardize data collection around customers that may chose to leave Ashby so that we can learn from them!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

There is so much documentation! The team is amazing at documenting their processes and decisions.

David Feinerman
David Feinerman

Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I got the opportunity to build a novel feature, Application Limits. This feature enables organizations to set up rules to limit the applications a single candidate can submit to a job (or set of jobs matching a customizable filter). This gives customers more time to see new candidates rather than sifting through repeat applications. This feature was a direct response to the changing hiring environment in 2023 where talent teams were flooded with record number of applications and shows how nimble and adaptable Ashby is!

Something I've helped the team with...

I made some updates to our bulk action framework: conditional fields and undoable bulk actions. Conditional fields only appear if certain conditions are met. Undoable bulk actions give users a chance to undo the bulk action after it begins. As our customers increase in size, bulk actions will become a greater part of their workflow. These new features enable developers to build more powerful and flexible bulk actions faster.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Most refreshing is Ashby's approach to "shipping." Ashby doesn't just celebrate code releases to production, which fosters a mentality that overly optimizes on one output. At Ashby, we also celebrates the "little" things like new documentation, research done, test fixes, specs read and written, new job postings and other cross functional tasks. Overlooked but valuable activities have a platform to shine.

Kevin Connolly

Product & Data

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

As Ashby grew, I took on the full-time responsibility for our Analytics product. Within that scope, I've brought a dedicated focus to understanding our customers' product journey, starting at the sales demo through onboarding to the ongoing customer experience. In working closely with many of our customers, I defined a standard set of dashboards for common use cases and needs in the recruiting space. These reports are now the starting point for every new customer and available immediately, providing access that otherwise would take many weeks of analyst effort. It's amazing to see a talent leader's joy when they get insights into their recruiting process they never had before.

Something I've helped the team with...

On a topic that's less about the day-to-day of product management, I wanted to help our team members get to know each other in our remote-first world. To help with that, I introduced a people intro slide deck where everyone gets a slide to share more about their personal interests. At all hands, every new employee introduces themselves with that slide. We've been able to learn a lot of interesting things that we would have otherwise never known, and it's a ton of fun!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I joined Ashby primarily because of the people - they're talented and are a rare selection of all-around great coworkers. Apart from that, having seen our product help, enable, and satisfy customers, I've had a growing pride in what we do and what we're building. It was a bit unexpected at first, but now I look at all the other companies in the world that I admire, and I have a sort of excitement at the idea of helping them effectively build the team they need. It's fun and hard work, we have so much to build, but it's really rewarding.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

The Ashby 2023 Keynote! While all of marketing ran this effort, I got to own two important sections from content to customer interviews to post-production, and helped run the day of production and coach speakers during the actual event. Was an awesome way to get to know the team, collaborate, and deliver real value for our customers.

Something I've helped the team with...

Small but important as a growing company: Built a social media calendar in Asana for marketing to easily visualize what is being promoted by the team as a whole and when we have gaps in updates to introduce fresh content ideas.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

That it hasn't taken over the entire ATS market yet! The product is incredible, driven by a team that is humble, diligent, and deeply passionate about championing talent and recruiting.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I set up a new type of integration that allows Ashby users to automatically create and attach CodeSignal live interview sessions to their interview invitations. The integration is designed so that we can easily extend it to support creating more interview resource types in the future!

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve worked on streamlining our API validation to make it easier for engineers to add new endpoints quickly and safely. I’ve also started converting our API docs to the OpenAPI format. This will eventually allow us to generate API validations from our documentation and automate the process of publishing our documentation.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I’ve been surprised by how extensive the product is —especially considering the size of the team. It’s been very impressive to see how many different feature areas there are while onboarding. Everyone encourages each other to build for the long term and I think this plays a big role in why the team has been able to build such a powerful product with a small team.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built an integration with the Paylocity HRIS system that allows our customers to seamlessly send their hired candidate data to their onboarding module and avoid manually entering data that already exists in Ashby.

Something I've helped the team with...

I made it much easier for our team to see how many additional email lookups our customers have and when they expire. Our support and success teams used to have to manually calculate which email lookups are part of the base plan and which were purchased separately. They then had to figure out when additional email lookups expired and sometimes trick the system into doing the right thing. Now it's properly tracked and easy to adjust!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How mature Ashby as a company is. Everything's well documented, there's structure, and the product itself is of high quality which shows that it was built with the long-term in mind. At the same time, it's easy to communicate and make decisions without any bureaucratic hurdles. It's truly amazing to see how much a small team can achieve.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I have contributed to designing and improving our structured onboarding process for new customers implementing our All-in-One product. We now have a more streamlined process to get Ashby implemented faster.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve created enablement documentation for our internal teams so we are all aligned on best practices for implementating Ashby with a customer!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

There is intention and thought behind everything that is done at Ashby. Whether it is within the product or internal communication/collaboration, things aren’t being done just because. I can see that this deliberate intention has fostered a great internal culture at Ashby that does not feel chaotic for a startup.

Oliver Hickman

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

There were some legacy settings in Ashby the confused nearly everyone — customers, the support team, and developers. I overhauled the entire thing, making the UI more clear and intuitive and refactoring the logic behind it to be more straightforward and easier to extend if the need arises.

Something I've helped the team with...

I implemented a toast notification system for a fairly barebones internal application. Before, when someone made an update, there was no positive feedback to the user that the change they made actually went through. Now with the notification system, users have much more confidence that the changes they are making are taking effect.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

On the surface, applicant tracking systems don't seem that exciting — Ashby turns that assumption on it's head! The more I learn about the application, the more excited about Ashby I become. The passion and excitement from the team is contagious and is clearly reflected in the quality of app that has been (and continues to be) built!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've built a system for quantifying how-to questions customers ask in Ashby. That data-driven approach is aimed to identify frequently asked questions that can be deflected by response with an article using generative AI automation tools. As a result, responses to questions that don't require troubleshooting can be automated, improving response time and saving Support team effort on other tasks.

Something I've helped the team with...

I created a training on Post-Hire integrations. The training includes necessary details to save the team's time on troubleshooting as well as the list of existing issues and support tickets for context on what to expect from an integration and how to resolve integration questions in the most efficient way.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing is the team behind Ashby: how professional everyone is and how everyone works on customer experience.

Quality Assurance

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've defined our QA process from the ground up: from how new features get QA-ed to how bugs get repro steps to our test plans for each feature.

Something I've helped the team with...

I created a bug reporting process to bridge the gap between our customer service and engineering teams. Incoming bugs can quickly and smoothly be triaged and assigned to the right engineers for a fix.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

One of the things that drew me to Ashby is still one of the things that most amazes me - that such a complex, impactful product can come to life with a small (so far!), mostly remote, focused team.

Onboarding at Ashby has been so smooth. From getting my developer environment set up, to making meaningful changes fast, to meeting the team, every part has been well thought out and very inviting.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It's actually been pretty unsurprising. The way Ashby presents itself in job descriptions, as well as throughout the interview process, really does capture the culture and the priorities of the team. Through that process, I felt confident that I wanted to join this team, and my experience so far has backed up that confidence.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Creating customized dashboards and reports is my favorite part of being a Recruiting Operations Consultant at Ashby. Through these builds, we are able to cut manual work time for recruiting ops and recruiting teams down significantly. As someone who has previously been a recruiter, I know how much every second of the day matters and being able to cut hours off a recruiting team's workload is incredibly motivating and rewarding.

Something I've helped the team with...

I rebuilt and reconfigured standardized dashboards to make it easier to onboard customers using the analytics functionality.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The intentionality of both the product and growth of the company. The product is created with such great intention so that our foundation is prepared for change and scale. Outside of the product, team growth is planned with great care to ensure we are hiring the right people at the right time for the workload of the organization.

I've been refining how we work with larger, and more complicated, customers to ensure they have a full understanding of the product and the ability to see value as soon as possible.

Something I've helped the team with...

I am building out competition focused content to ensure we have a strong understanding of the other platforms in our market and how Ashby delivers a differentiated experience.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The raw power in our product —with a few clicks we can deliver insight and understanding that traditionally took hours, days, or weeks of working in spreadsheets. It's amazing to watch customers light up when they see what they are capable of with Ashby.

I have improved our sales process to help our start-up customers evaluate Ashby.

Something I've helped the team with...

We have documentation on nearly everything at Ashby which has been a game changer for the onboarding process. After introducing a new sales intelligence platform to the Go-to-Market team, I helped document the set up instructions and best practices.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby is how many people talk about their positive experience with the tool and how quickly that message has been spreading to others! It speaks volumes to the engineering and design principles at Ashby.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

As one of the early hires on the CS team, I’m proud to have helped build some of the foundational processes that continue to support both our customers and new team members. It’s been incredibly rewarding to contribute to systems that scale with the business while also making onboarding smoother and more effective for everyone involved.

Something I've helped the team with...

Early in my tenure at Ashby, I helped shape our internal process around authorized users, specifically, who should have access to a customer’s account. I helped highlight the need for clearer guardrails, and then worked with the team to build a more consistent approach that protects customer data and ensures we’re following best practices.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Even after more than three years at Ashby, the most surprising thing to me is how true we’ve stayed to our roots. The operating principles that guided us early on still hold strong today. On top of that, I’ve never worked somewhere where I genuinely enjoy working with every single person, and that’s still the case here.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I implemented syncing data from other recruiting software into Ashby. It opened up Ashby's powerful reporting features to customers who can't use our all-in-one product yet.

Something I've helped the team with...

I sped up our automated tests on CI by 10x; they now run in under 10 minutes. We're able to make changes and deploy much faster than we could before.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

What's always surprising to me, is how each existing feature in Ashby instantly produces some additional value to a new feature. For example, when I worked on a data integration feature all the data that got integrated was automatically exposed to Ashby's analytics features. If you build something at Ashby, very often you'll be able to take some existing building blocks and use them in a new feature with only a little bit of glue code.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Over my first year, I've been focused on change management for our largest enterprise customers and helping build a new scalable framework that reduces time-to-value and increases customer satisfaction. This initiative has been crucial in helping our customers adopt Ashby quickly and easily, providing their talent acquisition teams with game-changing value. I'm excited to see how this framework continues to evolve and benefit our largest customers.

Something I've helped the team with...

As Ashby continues to build our enterprise customer base, I've had a large focus on creating customer champions that can speak to their experience and do reference calls with potential clients. Changing ATS's is a large undertaking and meeting with similar companies in similar positions does a lot to build excitement and assuage any fears of switching.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising aspect of Ashby has been how well documented everything is. Startups of this size usually have a lot of info living in people's brains but there's a strong culture here around documenting processes and sharing information. It has made learning all the different parts of the company much easier than I expected coming in.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The size and efficiency of the team. From the outside looking in, you may guesstimate that the employee count is easily twice it's actual size. I'm very proud that I brought in the largest deal in company history less than 5 months into my tenure here. This prevalent logo in the AI space will help spur growth as we move upmarket, and had a significant impact from a revenue perspective.

Something I've helped the team with...

I've built a "Mutual Partnership Plan" that some of my teammates use in their conversations with prospective customers as we map out the steps that need to be taken before a partnership is cemented. It can be a helpful project management tool that creates accountability and surfaces concerns.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

As the only dedicated resource to sourcing (for now!), I've been able to support hiring across all functions while partnering with hiring managers across the company. From setting up and implementing processes to providing product feedback and participating in community events, there's no shortage of ways to have impact.

Something I've helped the team with...

One of the great things about working at Ashby is the ability to balance day-to-day work with longer term projects that materially move the work forward. Taking this kind of proactive approach means I get to work on a project that will impact how we hire for engineering roles into the future, but that is also a fun break in the routine work.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How remarkably effective and balanced everyone is. I've worked in high-stress environments where it feels like there are fires everywhere, and Ashby is just the complete opposite. It's like being in a well-oiled machine without losing the innovation, creativity, and excitement of a growth stage company. Might be biased, but I think it comes down to the people.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've been working on our LinkedIn Ads strategy and it's been an amazing journey in teamwork. Redefining this strategy has required cross-functional efforts and aligning the execution across many folks. The results have rewarded the amazing work the team has done.

Something I've helped the team with...

For a Marketing team, being able to target the right audiences at the right time is crucial for any campaign or channel. I built a Total Addressable Market database that allows us to track and evaluate companies in our market and identify ones that are ready to start the sales cycle with us. This data improves our knowledge and targeting of prospects across many different channels.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Ashby's remote culture is unique; its values are designed to make each team efficient, autonomous, but aligned with the company goals.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

When scheduling interviews, hiring managers previously had to send a confirmation email after completing the scheduling process, which required extra clicks and was easy to skip by mistake. I built a feature which allows default confirmation emails to be configured in the scheduling flow so that they can be sent out automatically when the interview panel is finalized! This new flow is especially useful because it allows the email to be previewed and customized before finalizing the schedule and sending calendar invites.

Something I've helped the team with...

A few months ago, I came across an integral part of our application which was both complex and under-documented. I took the time to write up clear documentation and was thrilled when another teammate (Morten) followed it up with a refactor of the original API!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Our team has high standards, but never at the expense of a supportive environment! I always get the help that I need when I need it, and whenever I launch a feature, I feel greatly appreciated for my hard work.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

As the first CSM based in Europe, I'm super excited to help support our EMEA customers in getting the most out of Ashby. I'm also excited to leverage my past experience working in HR and recruiting tech to provide a smooth onboarding experience for customers and enable adoption across their organisation. I love working with data 🤓 so I'm looking forward to building out how we leverage this and enable teams to make data driven decisions through Ashby's epic reporting capabilities.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

My onboarding experience has been great, the team was incredibly welcoming and supportive of my learning! Being the first High-Touch CS in the UK meant I was on a different timezone, but the team leaned in to support me by hopping on early calls which I'm super grateful for. I'm amazed by how well documented everything is and how if you have questions, you'll always find the answer!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How considered and thoughtful everyone...and everything is! From product releases that solve genuine pain points to the structure around internal communication. The team is incredibly efficient and collaborative, meaning we can truly support our customers and be proactive in addressing their priorities. Ashby listens to it's customers and employees, resulting in a truly excellent product and employee experience.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I have been so excited to expand our team to include Customer Education and Knowledge Management. Even while still being in the building stages, the foundation we have laid for enablement has driven improvements in our content and related processes. The opportunity to further enable our customers to solve challenges and improve the TA experience using Ashby has been great to see.

Something I've helped the team with...

I restructured our onboarding approach in Support to group learning modules and materials by product area. This has been helpful in giving our new Support folks a deep understanding of the platform, but has made it's way to other Ashby newcomers on other teams.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I have learned that it is very possible to move swiftly while being intentional and thoughtful in one's approach. In other organizations, it can be easy to conflate being busy with being productive. It is not that way at Ashby. Having both the responsibility and sense of ownership to approach challenges with deliberate care and collaboration yields stronger results, better change management, and ultimately happier people. It's a unique approach that makes Ashby special.

Contract Management

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

In May 2023, I joined Ashby to assume the responsibility of customer renewals and build out a scalable contract management process. By July, I had complete autonomy over our customer renewals and contract inquiries, and was able to deliver transparent and on-time renewals for both our customers and Ashby. This transition has helped to improve our overall customer retention, while creating a more intentional and positive renewal experience.

Something I've helped the team with...

I was thrilled to see Ashby identify the need for my role early on as a company, as a dedicated Contract Management team is essential for allowing Sales and Customer Success to dedicate their efforts to bringing on and supporting Ashby customers. The commitment to customer growth and success was evident in this business decision, and has proven effective since I joined Ashby to take over renewals and contracts.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The pure delight of Ashby's customers will never cease to amaze me, and is unlike anything I have experienced in Saas. This is, of course, due to Ashby's overall vision and the high level of talent they have secured. Each team with Ashby brings an essential element that adds to the customer fandom over Ashby that we see each day. It is a joy to engage with customers who are so infatuated with the product and the Ashby way!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

In my fifth month at Ashby, I closed our biggest deal yet. It was a great way to see firsthand how the whole team supports sales and comes together as we learn how to win in the enterprise space and displace legacy ATS providers. Building the enterprise sales motion has been really fun and I'm excited to see this record broken!

Something I've helped the team with...

As we continue to build enterprise pipeline, I've helped create sales collateral to support the specific needs we're uncovering to better support our competitive position and stand out as a thought partner vs just another vendor.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

As a salesperson, the way Ashby team members embrace the One Team culture has been the most pleasant surprise. Folks across teams are proactive to open their networks to help book meetings and/or move deals along.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built a new service for converting offer letters and signature documents. Our old system didn't support all the features necessary to successfully convert the wide variety of documents our customers had. The new service supports is much less likely to randomly rearrange documents and we have better tooling to monitor, debug, and fix problems.

Something I've helped the team with...

I automated the application of database index migrations in production, replacing a manual process. Better for security and less busy-work for engineers!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

When I joined in FEB '24 I really tried to hit the ground running generating pipeline in my new role. I was able to show the broader team success and shared my process to the whole sales team only a few quarters into my tenure. This also helped me excel in my first year and make the jump to Enterprise less than a year in to my time at Ashby.

Something I've helped the team with...

I talked about the outbound motion I helped create above but also just giving a really good sales experience when people come to Ashby and evaluate the platform.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

When I first started the customer love really stood out and still does. Another things that's became evident since I started, is the level of talent working at Ashby in every department. Everyone is really passionate about the problems were solving and the customers in this space. It's pretty wild to see the diverse backgrounds and the success people have had before Ashby. Something I've helped the team with...

I've improved our codebase health by investing in our feature flag tooling and encouraging others to remove old flags after full rollout. We ship a lot, often, so our flag count was climbing rapidly, but we've now stabilised that growth and removed a lot of dead code in the process!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

To help our go-to-market (GTM) teams, I've published lots of documentation to provide transparency around our approach to responsible AI development. As a result, our teams have been able to significantly speed up customer approval to utilize Ashby's AI features and functionality.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'd like to help make Ashby as intuitive as possible. As someone who has been a recruiter in the past, I know how much an ATS can effect the day-to-day of a recruiting team. Having a platform that is designed for them and that is flexible and scalable can make a huge impact on an organization.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

My onboarding at Ashby was great! Though there is a ton to learn, they did a great job of breaking up the process into bite size pieces. The culture at Ashby is special, I felt welcomed from day one.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby is the rate in which features are shipped. It feels like there are new features and additions to the platform on a weekly basis. To me, this shows how much we care about the end users experience and feedback.

I've worked on some of our internal tooling, adding features to streamline people's workflows.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The dedication to a productive and trusting work environment is very refreshing. The flexibility and freedom as to how I work and the rigorous lack of non-useful meetings means I feel like I'm shipping a huge amount already!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've been really excited to test different approaches to onboarding our customers - working closely with Morgan to try and figure out the best route to get a customer stood up and finding success with Ashby

Something I've helped the team with...

I'm currently working on building out a table of contents, with document summaries included, for the Customer Success team once they've onboarded - you read a lot during your onboarding phase, and the idea of this summary is to make it easier to go back and find a useful document that you may have read in week 2!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The speed which the team ships updates, fixes, and entire new features to the team. The cadence that we're getting things into our customer's hands is second to none, and we're constantly able to make our customer's lives much better!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I've helped 90 exciting startups across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific evaluate and get started with Ashby to achieve their ambitious hiring goals.

Something I've helped the team with...

I'm currently the onboarding buddy for two of our newest Startup Account Executives in EMEA, showing them the ropes and helping them ramp up as quickly as possible so they can start running ATS evaluations with our prospective customers.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

In a relatively short time, Ashby has become one of the best ATS's on the market (the best in my opinion, but I might be biased!). Having worked at multiple software startups in the past, it's truly mind-blowing how quickly we've become a category leader, how good and fast our Product and Engineering teams are, how talented, thoughtful, and tenacious the team is at large, and most importantly how much our customers love us and how much value we're delivering for them.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

One of my favorite projects I've worked on is the Support Team Newsletter. Our newsletter creates a central repository for meaningful updates that impact the Support Team, and it has provided visibility for the larger team to see what Support is working on.

Something I've helped the team with...

Alongside the updates to our Support hiring process, I've reworked the Support contractor interview process to improve the technical assessment and more effectively evaluate the skills needed to succeed in this role.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The way we care for our customers. We collaborate cross-functionally to anticipate and resolve issues typically before customers notice.

Something I've helped the team with...

Data

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I built a set of data models and a consolidated dashboard for the RevOps team to help surface customer account mismatches between our CRM, sales records, and Ashby’s backend. It’s made it easier to spot issues early and reduced a lot of the manual work the team used to do.

Something I've helped the team with...

We use dbt for data modeling at Ashby, and I led the effort to restructure our dbt project - proposed the changes and got them deployed. The goal was to make the project more streamlined and maintainable, with clearer data layers and schemas, as well as practices that scale better with the team. And it’s been great to see it working well in practice.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The level of thoughtful communication - I’d heard it was part of the culture, but experiencing it firsthand was a pleasant surprise. It’s been absolutely rewarding to work with a team that respects your time - meetings are rare and purposeful, and most updates come through clear, thoughtful write-ups.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

In my first 90 days I built a one-pager that outlines Ashby's data migration options, new resources for strategic customers who are implementing, and I am currently working on developing our high touch implementation process.

Something I've helped the team with...

I think the high touch implementation process will have the most impact at Ashby, as it will allow us to transition implementing customers from CSM's to a dedicated Implementation Specialist for support during the onboarding period.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The agility and velocity of our Product and Engineering teams has been mind-blowing. I have been at a few startups in my tech career, but never one that essentially actions feedback in real time as often as possible.

My goal at Ashby is to be a trusted advisor to my hiring managers, partnering to make the best hiring decisions for their teams. I've worked with hiring managers who dread the task of hiring, as well as those who get excited about building their team. My hope is that I can steward a sense of excitement and optimism around hiring among the teams I work with.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

So far, so good! My first week was in Cancun, so it's really hard to have any constructive feedback as of yet - I may come back to this one!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Working on the content for Ashby ONE as my first major marketing project is a career highlight! Coaching our speakers and ensuring they had an exceptional experience at our first user conference was so much fun. I learned a ton and feel like I've found my dream role at Ashby.

Scaling our courses to enable the TA community has been really meaningful to me as a former recruiter. I'm thrilled I get to use my Learning & Development background in a new way and don't have to shelve the TA knowledge I amassed in past roles. I get to blend it all together for Ashby's courses and events.

I built a tool that sends our CSMs an email when one of our customers puts up a Head of Talent/Recruiting role. It helps us stay engaged with our customers and builds relationships from day 1.

Something I've helped the team with...

I really enjoy working on our Talent Trends reports! It takes a lot of effort to model ATS data and find relevant insights. A contribution that I'm proud of is developing strategic partnerships with hundreds of customers, helping them not just use our platform effectively, but actually improve their overall recruiting operations through knowledge sharing my experience and what I've learned through cross-company insights.

Something I've helped the team with...

I built a new e-signature integration, which required a large refactor to accommodate any future e-signature integration easily. Alongside it, I created playbooks for engineering on how to work with those integrations and for support on solving and tackling different issues that may come from e-signature workflows.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

One of the projects I’m proudest of was partnering with a teammate to support a major customer by reviewing and improving their offer letter templates. It was a detailed and time-intensive process that required a lot of collaboration, communication, and care. It wasn’t flashy, but it really demonstrated how much we’re willing to go the extra mile for our customers - and how well we work together as a team.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve contributed to improving our onboarding experience by sharing feedback and ideas from my own ramp-up, some of which are already being implemented for future new hires. I’ve also worked with teammates to fine-tune internal documentation and support workflows - small adjustments that help us move faster and more confidently when supporting customers.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I’ve been consistently impressed by how intentional and thoughtful our decision-making is, both in how we build and ship product updates and in how we structure internal processes. Nothing feels rushed or reactive, but we’re still incredibly agile and responsive. It’s super obvious that every decision is grounded in principles and context, which creates a lot of trust across the team.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

There's always been a gap in TA reporting at every company I've worked at. At most companies, we didn't have easy functionality to pull and report on the data. At other companies, we had the functionality but we would just have stock reports on recruiter and source channel metrics. I would end up doing a lot of ad hoc analyses from disparate data sources to try and diagnose problems in our hiring funnel. The opportunity to work for a company that is building an All-In-One recruiting product with best-in-class, customizable reporting capabilities was too good to pass up.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It's been great so far. The amount of information available and easily accessible from Day 1 has made the ramp up faster than at most companies. I'm looking forward to meeting the Engineering team next week to do a deeper dive into our interview process for their department.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I'm going to cheat here a bit and list two. #1 - Product velocity. It seems like the Engineering team is able to move really fast, with a lot of autonomy, and ship a lot of features which is great to see. #2 - Company growth. Stealth launch in 2020, public launch in 2022, still in relatively early stage but already have some notable industry-leading tech customers like Shopify, Snowflake, OpenAI, etc. The growth in just 2-3 years since public launch is beyond impressive.

Customer obsession and a high bar for product functionality is really impressive here.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’m proud that I was able to start contributing as early as week 3. I took ownership of managing anniversaries for our Startup segment, our largest to date, and built out templates, sequences, and backend efficiencies to streamline the process. Even as a small and mighty team, we’re setting strong foundations to scale with a proactive, seamless approach to renewals that keeps things running smoothly as we grow.

Something I've helped the team with...

I'm helping the team setting up workflows that help the team get ahead of renewal conversations especially for our high-volume startup segment. I've worked closely with our data team to improve our usage dashboards and create a single source of truth. This will help our team better understand customer usage and ensure they are on the right plan during renewals or mid-contract adjustments.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How mature, organized, and forward-looking everything and everyone is, especially internal communication and collaboration. The way teams work together so seamlessly and share knowledge day-to-day has honestly blown my mind. People are always ready to jump in and support one another and across teams which creates a super collaborative and energizing environment. Also, I’ve been really impressed by how much appreciation and recognition is shared, not just from customers, but internally too. I’ve helped the team by building structure around the ambiguity of complex implementations, ensuring we step back to understand the bigger picture and determine the right outcome for the customer at every touchpoint. This has led to smoother transitions to BAU teams, greater continuity throughout the customer journey and a more consistent, high-quality experience that sets both our customers and the regional team up for long-term success.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby is how deeply our operating principles prioritise customers first. Every decision and every interaction is grounded in delivering long-term value, with a clear focus on doing what is right for the customer rather than what is easiest in the moment.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

In my first three months here at Ashby I've been amazed at the collaboration across the team especially as we move up market and refine our processes. I've been pleased to contribute my experience in enterprise selling and help us continue to sharpen the knife as we bring on some of the most innovative and forward thinking enterprises.

Something I've helped the team with...

Even in my first 90 days, we all have a major impact on the business. Especially in helping to build things out like our internal sales tech stack and outbounding process. As a team we are continuously growing and evolving and being part of that process has been amazing.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It still remains the customer love in the market. I've never seen a product before that is so wholly loved by all of it's user base.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I have worked with my Implementation Specialist teammates to integrate the Workday implementation process with the overall process implementation. Now, we have a truly collaborative customer experience where the TA and HRIS teams are aligned and decisions can be made efficiently and configuration completed confidently.

Something I've helped the team with...

Talent Acquisition

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I’m in the unique (and very lucky!) position of using the product we’re building every day as a recruiter. I’m excited to help build the flywheel: using Ashby to find and hire great technical talent, who then ship features that make the product even better and ultimately make recruiters’ lives everywhere a little easier.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Very thoughtful! There’s lots of documentation to help new hires ramp up, paired with meaningful involvement from senior leadership, including multiple founder-led sessions to build a strong understanding of the product. I also got to attend our Chicago offsite early on and meet key stakeholders in person, which was a great start

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How small some of the teams are! There’s an incredible amount of firepower coming from a small group of very talented people. More than once, I’ve assumed a feature was built by a whole team, only to find out it was just one engineer. It’s a real testament to how well our operating principles work in practice.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

As my first major milestone at Ashby, I redesigned the suite of Professional Services offerings available to our customers. Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm excited to work with an outstanding & deeply motivated team to help Recruiting teams and hiring managers embrace a better way to hire. The opportunity in Enterprise & Mid-Market to let go of the status quo is vast and getting even a fraction of them inspired to swap over to Ashby is going to help thousands of candidates have a better candidate experience.. Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How well-crafted and strategic the long-term ambition is, surprising given how young Ashby is as a company. The executive leaders have a phenomenal plan and are executing well to make the next 5-15 years a great success for Ashby.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of in my first three months has been hiring two incredible new managers to lead our Startup and Mid-Market teams. This is the first time we’ve split the segment into two distinct teams, and it marks such an exciting milestone for our Sales org, a real testament to the success and momentum this team has created! And hiring incredible leaders is a force multiplier!

Something I've helped the team with...

I've helped build out our prospecting playbook to help support the sales team with their pipe generation efforts, along with a bit more focus on the inputs that reps can control to help lead them to successfully achieving their quota. I'm a firm believer in being able to control the controllables, and not get overly fixated on the outputs (quota achievement).

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Chief of Staff

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

My ultimate goal as the first Chief of Staff at Ashby is to develop a blueprint for this role and give our CEO, Benji, greater leverage and focus. By working closely with Benji and our leadership team, I've been able to help keep projects on track, monitor our company progress, plan our leadership meetings and offsites and help keep our team accountable to our ambitious targets and plans. With my background as a corporate attorney, I've also built the foundations of our in-house legal function. I've worked on our series D fundraising, secured Ashby's IP and worked on our global expansion plans setting the foundation for Ashby's growth for years to come.

Something I've helped the team with...

One of the best parts of the Chief of Staff role is getting to collaborate with a wide variety of team members on different parts of the business. I worked closely with our marketing team on our first annual customer customer, Ashby One in May and the launch of our series D announcement in July this year. Right now, I'm collaborating closely with our people team on a number of priorities, including our next company offsite in October and also driving improvements to internal operations such as a new vendor and renewals process at Ashby which will provide clarity and efficiency to all our teams.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Two things. First, the intense customer love for Ashby's product and our team. It's hard to truly understand the extent of this love until you see all the feedback our team receives everyday. Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm excited to help our customers hit the ground running. I am particularly excited to make customers who are coming from a different tool feel at home in Ashby! I've been on the other side of a tool change and know there's a lot to hold while getting comfortable in a new system so am excited to be a thoughtful partner in the process. I'm also excited to showcase how intentionally Ashby is built to make their daily workflows efficient and scalable. Let's go!

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

Building a professional tool that people from diverse industries and parts of the world use every day. Ashby allows people to be more productive, automating tedious tasks while allowing recruiters to connect more candidates with opportunities. On top of that, Ashby values a lot the Design Engineer role, which allows me to fully own a feature end-to-end while leveraging both my creative and analytical sides.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

As someone who values social connection in remote environments, I am proud to have created weekly support co-working sessions that allow our team to work together on customer cases, connect with one another, and further foster a space for learning and growth. These weekly meetings have allowed our team to ask more questions, learn more ways to troubleshoot issues, and be able to solve problems much faster.

Something I've helped the team with...

With my background in Talent Acquisition and RecOps. I have been able to help our Specialists better understand the questions our customer ask and the 'why' behind them. I help new joiners along their onboarding journey and help get them ramped up with as much confidence and curiosity as possible. Additionally, I'm excited to be part of defining our scopes and how we work cross-functionally with other teams.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Besides the amazing product, the people. Every single person here is truly remarkable; the level of intelligence, empathy, and passion is beyond inspiring. I learn something new every day.

Talent Acquisition

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’m in a position where my role is quite multifaceted, so I’ll share a few contributions I’m proud of. Hiring is a key objective, and through making small but impactful tweaks to our hiring process, we’ve been able to bring a broader range of candidate profiles into our engineering pipelines, resulting in several successful hires. Additionally, I’ve been given the freedom to experiment creatively across different European technology hubs. Some of these experiments have already shown strong immediate impact, while others are being developed as longer term strategies that I’m excited to continue building.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve supported the team by getting involved in several events at Ashby to showcase the AI functionality we’re experimenting with in our Technical Recruiting team. This has included speaking at a Berlin meetup, representing Ashby at a London Talent Community event, and participating in a community event in Warsaw. These experiences helped share learnings, gather feedback, and direct some of our next experimentation projects!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How impactful the teams can be within such ambiguous problem spaces!

Solutions Engineering

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’m proud of closing my first enterprise deal within my first 90 days at Ashby, which required ramping quickly on both the product and the customer’s enterprise requirements. I partnered closely with the AE and internal stakeholders to navigate a complex process, align on messaging, and address stakeholder concerns clearly and confidently. This allowed me to contribute meaningful impact early on and helped demonstrate how effective collaboration enables fast momentum even in enterprise sales cycles.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve helped the team by creating reusable content around some of our key integrations, based on the questions that come up most often in customer conversations. The aim has been to make it easier for AEs and SEs to explain how these integrations work in practice and to go a bit deeper when needed. Having this content available helps avoid repeating the same explanations, keeps our messaging consistent, and makes demos and follow-up conversations smoother.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

What surprised me most about Ashby is just how strong the team is across the board. The “frustratingly patient” approach to hiring really shows - you’re surrounded by people who are thoughtful, capable, and great at what they do. It means there’s always something to learn from the people you work with.

QA

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I have rolled out a set of automated Smoke tests using Playwright that execute in our CI pipeline on PRs that change relevant frontend/backend code. Although few in number for now, this foundation demonstrates that running automation in this manner is possible, and development of a robust set of hundreds (or even thousands!) of tests will follow. Once fully implemented, automation will provide comprehensive coverage of many features in our product, catching bugs and increasing confidence in releases. Shout-outs to Inès for her work alongside mine to get this going!

Something I've helped the team with...

In GitHub, Ashby uses workflows to aid in ticket management. QA has a bot that will move tickets around, add/remove labels, etc. Since joining, I have fixed some bugs with this bot incorrectly moving tickets (or not doing anything at all), as well as implemented some new functionality around automatically moving tickets with blocking issues into their own column.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The amount of communication from upper management regarding changes to the business. This includes, but is not limited to, future plans, milestones hit and missed, growth and losses, market insights, and more. It is refreshing and much appreciated to be kept up-to-date with the company in all these ways.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

After being an Ashby customer at my previous company, I fell in love not only with the product, but with the way Ashby connects and uplifts the talent acquisition community. I saw firsthand how deeply Ashby is woven into the fabric of TA—how it doesn’t just serve its customers, but empowers them. At AshbyOne, I had the chance to meet many members of the Ashby team, and from that moment, I knew it was something special—something I wanted to be a part of. Now, I’m thrilled to join Ashby and pay that experience forward, helping to strengthen the community through education, connection, and collaboration.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

I’ve been impressed by how much thoughtful documentation Ashby has in place. It’s been incredibly helpful — I can usually find answers on my own instead of interrupting teammates, which makes onboarding so much smoother. Another thing that stood out is how quiet Slack is in comparison to previous companies I've worked at. I knew Ashby embraced asynchronous work, but experiencing it firsthand has been eye-opening. The focus time and lack of constant pings have given me so much more space in my day to actually get things done.

Customer Support

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

As a former Recruiter and Ashby customer, I’m excited to deepen my understanding of how People and Talent teams use Ashby day to day, not just to fix problems but to help them get more value from the product. I want to get sharper technically and build the kind of product knowledge that lets me diagnose issues faster and explain them more clearly to customers. I’m also looking forward to contributing to team projects that improve how we support customers at scale. The more I learn, the more I see how much impact Support has on shaping both the customer experience and the product itself.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It’s been structured, intentional, and incredibly well thought out. The pace felt right, with enough guidance to feel supported but enough autonomy to learn by doing. Shadowing sessions and hands-on tickets helped me connect theory to practice quickly. What stood out most was how approachable and responsive everyone has been. I never felt like I had to figure things out alone. The culture of ownership and openness made it easy to ask questions and get context fast, which is rare in a fully remote setup.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby has been how people consistently show up 101% for themselves, their work, and the team. In most companies, that kind of drive tends to fade as teams grow, but here it feels like the opposite. People care deeply about doing great work and helping others do the same. You see it everywhere, especially in Slack, where people are quick to jump in, offer help, or share a workaround. It’s rare to find a team that combines this level of ownership with genuine kindness, and it’s been incredibly motivating to be part of it.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to bring people into a company like Ashby. I’ve been fortunate to recruit candidates early in my role and to receive feedback on how much they’ve already enjoyed their experience here. The recruiting process has been a true partnership with sales leadership and the broader hiring teams, and I’ve appreciated how closely we work together. I especially value that Ashby’s hiring managers put so much care and intention into the recruiting process, which enables me to do my job to the best of my ability.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve been helping put more intentional thought into how we scale Sales recruiting at Ashby, with a focus on defining qualifications specific to each segment while still prioritizing strong cultural add attributes. We’re in a unique and exciting position, having access to strong resources while also carrying a real opportunity to make an impact and experiment with new approaches. The work I’ve been driving has direct visibility with senior leadership, and the feedback I receive has been incredibly valuable in sharpening my thinking and pushing the work forward.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

A lot about Ashby has pleasantly surprised me, but what stands out most is our product development and how closely the team listens to the market, our current customers, and internal partners, including my own team. I’ve met with members of the product team to share ideas, and those ideas are genuinely heard and acted on. It’s exciting to see how the product will continue to evolve because of the strong feedback loop we have in place.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Building eLearning content and training that helps our customers use Ashby with confidence. My first course was a steep learning curve, but with lots of collaboration and feedback, I turned it into something I’m really proud of.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve built new training for Ashby Academy and helped refine the processes and tooling behind Customer Education. From improving content workflows to experimenting with new formats, I focus on making sure our education efforts scale alongside both our product and our customers.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

One contribution I’m proud of is helping customers navigate the transition to Ashby. While choosing Ashby is an easy decision to make, changing an ATS is still a significant decision and can feel complex for customers. I enjoy supporting teams through onboarding and data migrations from their previous systems, helping make the process feel manageable and setting them up for long-term success.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve helped the team by rethinking how we approach implementation kickoffs and working on programs focused on upleveling the enterprise customer experience at Ashby. This includes making early touchpoints more intentional and aligned so customers feel confident and supported from the start.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Every startup says it has a great culture, but at Ashby, it’s something you can actually feel. From day one, everyone has been incredibly kind, welcoming, and supportive. It’s made a huge difference in feeling part of the team.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Small but mighty: I've added dozens of conditional nudges and tooltips to various configuration UI, so customers can more confidently use Ashby without needing to consult documentation or ask support for help. Each time a customer issue boils down to a customer asking a question, I see an opportunity to preempt this question for all future customers. Not only does this reduce our support load, but it leads to a smoother and more magical experience where everything "just works"!

Something I've helped the team with...

I've been chatting with members of our Support Engineering team to explore their pain points and how we can better enable them. From these discussions, I've driven process improvements to make issue triage more efficient, streamline common tasks, and broaden their scope. At Ashby, the culture is all about helping each other, even if we're not on the same team (because at the end of the day, we ARE all on the same team! Cliche not intended haha).

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The magic behind Ashby's success isn't from some 10x superstars - it's from everybody on the team making very reasonably good decisions, very consistently. From Support that actually tries to help you, to Sales that actually understands your business need, to Engineering that actually understands the problem they're building for. There's no magic here, just simple competence and care.

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

I’m proud of how I supported the team during our recent department offsite. Knowing it would be a heavier week in the queue, I proactively took on additional cases and stepped in to smoothly take over tickets from other specialists so they could fully participate in the offsite. It felt great to help maintain our response times and customer experience while also making space for the team to be present and engaged.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve helped our Support team grow by leading training sessions with new hires where we walk through real tickets together, strengthen troubleshooting skills, and build confidence before they fully ramp onto the team. I also bring my background in recruiting operations into these sessions, which helps me provide deeper context around how customers actually use Ashby in their day-to-day workflows. That perspective allows me to train new team members not just on how to resolve issues, but on why the workflows matter to recruiters and talent teams.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby is how customer-focused the entire company is. Regardless of team or role, everyone is invested in helping customers succeed. That shared commitment shows up in how quickly teams collaborate, prioritize feedback, and rally around solving customer-specific problems.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

My onboarding experience has been fantastic! Documentation is thorough, communication in general here is rich and insightful, and the people have been so warm and welcoming. I feel set up for success and excited for week 2!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Everything that I read about and experienced during the interview process is true! The approach towards communication, hiring, and building a product all sounded almost too good to be real. I am surprised and delighted to say that the reality is even better!

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

My role allows me to help scale Ashby through hiring for specialized roles across various business functions. Since joining in late 2025, my focus has been on building thoughtful, tailored recruiting processes that address the unique needs of each team. Doing so has allowed me to focus on quality over quantity, build strong partnerships with hiring managers, and prioritize long-term fit rather than volume. I’m proud to have helped make impactful hires across several teams since joining, including supporting hiring leaders as they built out their teams for the first time. It’s been rewarding to connect great people with opportunities where they can do meaningful work, and I’m excited to help Ashby continue increasing velocity while maintaining a high level of intentionality throughout the hiring process.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve worked with hiring teams to enhance how they run their recruiting processes, helping them get more comfortable in the platform and better leverage its features to streamline hiring workflows. This has helped make day-to-day recruiting more efficient and created more time for meaningful conversations with candidates. We’re also able to stay more aligned and make faster, more confident decisions.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The strong focus on maintaining intentionality, even when increasing velocity. Everything I've seen so far is thoughtfully designed. Seeing velocity treated thoughtfully, without sacrificing quality, has been a refreshing change of pace.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I am most excited to act as a 'Force Multiplier' for our Customer Success team. As we scale, my goal is to build the onboarding and enablement engines that empower our team to move faster, consult strategically, and deliver massive value. I’m thrilled to help turn our internal talent into a genuine competitive advantage.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Intentional. That’s the best word to describe it. In a remote-first world, it’s easy to feel isolated, but the team has been incredibly proactive about sharing the 'why' behind our strategy. I’ve already had the chance to dive into real collaborative work (not just busy work) within my first few days, which speaks volumes about the culture of trust and ownership here.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It’s the combination of talent density and our writing culture. Everyone I’ve met is a master of their craft, yet that high performance is paired with a genuine spirit of collaboration. That thoughtfulness extends to how we operate. Many companies say they value documentation, but Ashby lives it. The depth of thought that goes into our internal memos creates an environment where decisions are clear, meetings are efficient, and information is truly democratized

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I’ve spent the last several years as part of the talent acquisition community, learning from it, growing within it, and building my career alongside it. What excites me most about my role at Ashby is the opportunity to shift from being a participant in that community to being in a position to serve it. Ashby is already showing up with care, intention, and credibility in the spaces that matter most to talent and recruiting ops leaders, and I’m energized by the opportunity to build on that foundation by expanding existing efforts and creating new streams of content and conversation that genuinely support practitioners.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

So far, onboarding has been smooth sailing! It is clear how carefully everything is designed to make new joiners feel supported and set up for success. Everyone has been welcoming, responsive, and generous with their time, and I already feel like a real part of the team.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby is how central community is to its growth strategy. Ashby is not just focused on serving users through the product, but on showing up as an active, thoughtful participant in the broader Talent and Recruiting Operations community. There is a real commitment to earning trust through dialogue, presence, and contribution, not just publishing content or shipping features. That focus on being part of the conversation, not just the platform, is rare and incredibly meaningful.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I am excited to work at Ashby because the company treats enablement as a driver of execution, not a support function. My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Day one at Ashby and the onboarding already sets the tone. Clear, thoughtful, and human. Enough structure to move fast, enough flexibility to stay sane. Off to a strong start and excited to keep going.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

Ashby has a rapidly growing customer base that are very passionate about TA platforms, and Ashby specifically. It is not hard to find an overwhelmingly positive sentiment about what the team at Ashby has built up to this point. I am looking forward to meeting TA teams to learn more about what they are trying to achieve and introducing them to the game changing recruiting platform they've been looking for.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

So far so good. My first week was at our GKO which was a great opportunity to meet my colleagues in person. This was especially valuable since we are a fully remote company. I also was able to get a sense for the culture and energy at Ashby, which is contagious!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The people and the technology. The product really is as good as you see when you do your research. And the team is full of genuinely talented and passionate people, the kind you are excited to build with, challenge, and be challenged.

Engineering Leadership

Something I'm proud of at Ashby...

Two things! One of my early onboarding tasks was creating an email token for application form submissions; this enables recruiters to automatically send candidate answers back to them after they submit their application. So, so small but I wish I had had this when I was applying to Ashby, so it was gratifying to solve a small pain point right off the bat. I also redesigned our user flow for configuring automations, taking an overly complex process and simplified it into a more intuitive experience -- super satisfying!

Something I've helped the team with...

I've been iterating on a specific AI skill that helps us do competitive research. Since every engineer owns their projects end to end, this often includes exploring prior art in the industry. I wanted to give our team a way to jumpstart their research so they can make better informed decisions earlier on in the planning process.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How well the 'product engineer' model works. Our devs are a cut above many in the industry, both from their varied backgrounds and how they've honed their craft at Ashby across product, design, and engineering. Everyone operates with deep knowledge and advocacy for the end user, and it's creating an impressive product.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’m proud of the role I played in supporting the team during a high-energy, record-breaking end of quarter. It was my first quarter at Ashby, and being part of the momentum, contributing to pipeline, staying engaged in deals, and collaborating closely with teammates was incredibly rewarding.

Something I've helped the team with...

I’ve helped the team by quickly ramping up and contributing to a more consistent, repeatable approach to my sales process, especially around discovery, positioning, and follow-up. I’ve spent time refining how I structure recap emails and executive summaries so they clearly tie customer pain points to Ashby’s value, and I’ve shared those with others on the team to help standardize messaging.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby has been both the depth of the product and the level of collaboration across the team. As I’ve ramped, I’ve realized Ashby is not just an ATS, and the team is incredibly open in sharing knowledge on how to best position it. I'm excited to take Ashby's Talent Trend work to the next level. It's already such a strong pillar for the company, and there's a huge opportunity to keep building it into one of the most trusted resources for how modern teams hire. What excites me the most is turning Ashby's data into insights that are actually useful for talent leaders -- helping them see what's changing in hiring and how to adapt. If we do it well, the work won't just highlight Ashby's data, it will shape how the industry thinks about recruiting and talent operations.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Honestly, it's been impressive. Ashby clearly takes onboarding seriously and is intentional setting people up for success. From day one, there have been clear expectations, thoughtful documentation, and real thought put into helping new team members ramp with confidence. What stands out most, though, are the people. Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I’m excited to contribute to Ashby’s outbound motion and help shape how we reach and engage the right customers. I’ve spent a lot of time building outbound strategies and enjoy figuring out what messaging actually resonates and leads to meaningful conversations. What really stands out to me is how clear Ashby’s product-market fit has been from early on. The team has already helped so many organizations improve how they run recruiting, and it’s evident that the product is a true leader in the space. I’m excited to be joining at a time where we can continue to build on that momentum and help even more teams streamline their processes and grow more efficiently.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

I’m really excited to help the Engineering org scale up, while also preserving the low-process, high-autonomy culture that makes Ashby such a special place to work.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Pure joy! Everything has been perfectly organized and completely seamless. I’ve had all of the support and information I’ve needed to get up to speed and unblock myself along the way. The amount of thoughtful and caring feedback I’ve received from the team has been such a treat.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

How much you can accomplish by hiring the right people, empowering them to own their work, and creating the right environment for them to succeed. Favoring ownership over process sounds simple, but it requires so much intentional effort and real courage from every employee, at every level.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

There are so many exciting possibilities that it's truly difficult to choose just one. Anything that makes people's everyday lives better - be it recruiters or candidates.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It's been an absolute blast! Productive from day one, just shipping immediately. Everyone I've interacted with has been nothing but kind and supportive. There's a lot to learn, but I've felt thoroughly supported throughout the whole process so far.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The absolute, unwavering focus on fostering a truly remote-first, async culture. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before and I'm excited about the future!

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I started my career in recruiting and spent several years at CareerBuilder helping organizations optimize how they hire, so this is a space I care deeply about. Honestly, I wish I had a tool like Ashby when I was a recruiter. What excites me about Ashby is the opportunity to help companies rethink how they run talent operations in a way that actually ties to business outcomes. Most teams are still operating with fragmented tools and limited visibility, making it difficult to hit hiring goals or consistently improve quality of hire. Ashby changes that by bringing ATS, scheduling, sourcing, and analytics into a single platform, giving teams clear, real-time insight into what’s working and what’s not. I’m excited to partner with customers to make their hiring more data-driven, more efficient, and ultimately more impactful on the business.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It’s been an awesome, all-hands-on-deck onboarding experience. One of the things that’s stood out most to me is how intentional Ashby is in how it operates. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and there’s a clear “why” behind it. It’s clear the team truly practices what they preach, especially when it comes to building great processes and using data to drive decisions, which has made ramping both structured and really impactful.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

One thing that’s really stood out to me is how customizable the Ashby product is. Most of the software I’ve sold in the past has been more “what you see is what you get” and largely the same for every customer out of the box. Ashby differs in that it can be tailored to each customer’s unique hiring process, surfacing what matters most to their business, front and center. That level of flexibility makes it much more impactful and aligns really well with how modern recruiting teams actually operate.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm excited to work with Ashby Customer Success on evolving their strategies, processes, and data so the team can continue to deliver exceptional customer outcomes at scale as Ashby grows.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

The experience has been fun and fast. There is so much documentation that you can quickly get up to speed and find answers to questions quickly.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The long-term thinking. Ashby had a very clear vision from day 1, and that vision continues to be realized today.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm excited to learn a new tech stack and ship features that help our customers do their jobs even more effectively.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Lots to learn, but very well thought out! The dev environment setup was a single script, and curated starter tasks let you learn while also making real contributions to the product in your first week.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The level of transparency and trust across the Engineering team and the whole company.

Enablement

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

Ashby has a reputation for excellence on both the engineering and go-to-market side, and I’m excited to help make sure that standard not only holds as we scale, but gets even stronger.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

My onboarding experience has been tremendous. Ashby has already built strong resources for learning the product and understanding how the company works, but what’s made the biggest difference is how helpful and welcoming my teammates have been. That combination makes it possible to ramp quickly without feeling rushed.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing has been how product fluent the whole company is. We use what we build, we care about understanding the value it creates, and there’s a real expectation that people know the product well. It’s refreshing to work at a company where dogfooding is real and product fluency is part of the culture.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm joining the Platform team, where I'm looking forward to collaborating across engineering to deepen our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) culture and evolving our platform to support Ashby's ambitious product roadmap.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Exactly as I hoped. There's a lot to learn, but the onboarding is thoughtfully structured to make it sustainable, with regular catch-ups with a buddy. No question is too small, and all engineers are empowered to work on and ship solutions to ambiguous product problems very early in their journey here.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Our clarity of thought. Our product development process is intentional and decisive – we make decisions quickly, build with the right level of polish, and have a bias for shipping. The culture is exactly as described on our website, and it's a genuine joy to work with such a motivated and talented team.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I’m excited to work with Ashby customers to implement a modern ATS that allows them to build a data-driven recruiting process. Technology is advancing at an unprecedented pace, as is the volume of data at our disposal. The ability for talent teams to both consolidate their tech stack and deliver strategies informed by advanced analytics is extremely powerful. As the old saying goes, “You can’t manage what you can’t measure."

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Joining Ashby has been a world-class experience. Everyone has been supportive, and it’s clear they are invested in my success. As a remote-first team, they have thoughtfully designed an onboarding experience that is structured, comprehensive, and focused on providing me with the information I need to feel confident in my role on the Customer Success team.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

It is evident Ashby takes the company operating principles very seriously and demonstrates this from day one. I noticed this in some of my earliest interactions during the interview process, prioritizing communication, ownership and a deep care for the process. Each step felt intentional and well-thought-out, with expectations clearly outlined at every stage.

Finance

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm still in the early stages of getting up to speed, but I'm eager to dive deep into our billing processes to really understand how everything fits together: the workflows, the pain points, and where things slow down. Once I have that foundation, I'm excited to identify opportunities to introduce automation that reduces manual lift and frees the team up to focus on higher-impact work. Longer term, I'd love to help build processes that are not just more efficient, but more scalable as Ashby continues to grow.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Easily the smoothest onboarding I've had. The onboarding checklist is comprehensive, and the documentation across departments is thorough and well-organized. The HR articles in particular have been incredibly helpful for getting up to speed quickly. Despite being a small team, IT has been remarkably efficient, and I had access to nearly every tool I needed by the end of day one. Overall, it's been a great reflection of the care and intentionality that Ashby puts into everything, and it's made hitting the ground running a lot easier.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

While it came up during the interview process, nothing quite prepared me for just how intentional Ashby is in practice. From onboarding to documentation, it's clear that a great deal of care, thought, and long-term planning goes into the decisions made here. Experiencing that firsthand on day one was genuinely refreshing!

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I’m most excited to help Ashby scale as we lean into the enterprise space. Since the product is so flexible and data-rich, we have a huge opportunity to help solve the most complex hiring puzzles. Looking forward to learning more about where our customers are currently pushing the boundary and what we can build for them.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Wonderful! I was able to jump in and participate in the CS Leadership Offsite on my first day which was a great crash course in Ashby strategy. The onboarding has been comprehensive but self serve which is ideal.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I've been surprised at the level of maturity of what I would consider internal infrastructure on the GTM side for a company of this size. eg, Customer Edu, Implementation Specialists, dedicated enablement teams. The commitment to serving our customers through building robust process internally is refreshing.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm excited to work with Ashby's strategic customers, identify the problems they are trying to solve for their teams and their business and how we can align those to Ashby! I'm also excited to get into the weeds with the product, the capabilities are endless and I'm excited to learn more and more

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It has been so well laid out and prescribed; while there is a lot to learn, I haven't felt lost or confused once, which is remarkable for a fully remote onboarding. It's a great mix of self-led and department leader guided sessions

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Probably not surprising but I'm already blown away by how smart and hard-working everyone is, it is a very fast-paced environment but I already get the sense that we're a team all in this together, pulling in the same direction. Everyone has been really friendly and generous with their time and advice and support

Revenue Operations

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

Ashby customers love our product and people. I want to help us reach Workday scale while keeping a delightful experience in every interaction with Ashby.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Onboarding has been excellent. Ashby colleagues are competent, kind, and want to get to know one another. I had intro conversations with Mike, Kelsey, Harriet, and Brooke within days of starting, and joined the CS team in Boston for their offsite a few weeks in. The work is well documented, which let me come up to speed fast and also gave me a long reading list I'm still working through.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing is how much thought occurs before a meeting. People write the argument, the context, and the decision they're proposing in a doc, and the meeting is where it gets pressure-tested. Most companies do the opposite: meet first, document later, if at all. The Ashby version makes meetings sharper, decisions more durable, and asynchronous work actually possible across time zones.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

Rapid innovation and a growing team can create interesting challenges for product infrastructure. I am excited to help scale our infrastructure to continue supporting our amazing engineers, a beloved product, and our passionate customers!

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It's been a lot, but in a good way! Even though I was hired as an infrastructure engineer, I've already had the opportunity to ship tiny features that customers love. The culture here is living up to my expectations. Everyone I've met so far is kind, thoughtful, and on a quest to do good work.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

A lot is expected of you, even in your first week. I skeptically thought it would be more overwhelming than empowering, but somehow it strikes a good balance! The momentum I've built up so far makes me even more excited to make a positive impact on the product and team.

I'm excited to do what I love most — connecting people. At Ashby, I'd love to design programs and events that bring the operating principles to life, creating experiences that give employees the tools, space, and community to do their best work. And of course, moments of fun along the way too. As the team grows globally, I want to make sure every person feels genuinely connected to the mission and to each other through thoughtful programs that reflect Ashby's values and make the culture feel tangible, no matter where someone is in the world.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Overall it's been really smooth!

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Honestly, the pace of innovation. The new feature launches that just came out of AshbyOne. I'm really excited to start weaving the product into our own team workflows and experience firsthand what our customers get to use every day.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

From the outside, Ashby's engineering seemed on a higher level than other companies. From the inside, I can confirm that, and I'm looking forward to learning new tricks while contributing to an awesome product.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

A week after starting, I feel reasonably confident contributing code - thanks to the plentiful documentation and support from my colleagues.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

I have been warned about Arrested Development references, but I had no idea they would be so prevalent! But more seriously, how the engineering background of the founders is tangible throughout the company. I feel like that is a key differentiator in Ashby's success.

Talent Acquisition

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

After years of using Ashby as a customer, I was immediately hooked by the balance of power and intuitive design. Now that I’ve joined the team, I’m stoked to do more than just hire top talent. I’m looking forward to leveraging my experience as a power user to help us scale, while helping shape the platform as the gold standard for TA teams who value delivering a best-in-class hiring experience.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

In a word: Welcoming. Everyone has been kind, but the intentionality and thoughtfulness behind how the team communicates is what really stands out. As a GTM Recruiter, I’m excited to see how we use Ashby to hire for Ashby. I’m looking forward to uncovering the team's best tips and tricks, and eventually contributing a few of my own.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The willingness to challenge the status quo. Within my first few days, I’ve been encouraged to bring a fresh perspective and question current processes. It’s rare to join a team that is so genuinely open to new ideas, and ready to rethink how things are done.

Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...

I'm super excited about creating onboarding experiences people actually remember, improving internal processes so managers and employees aren’t stuck in admin chaos, and building programs that make a fast-growing company still feel human.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

Ashby’s onboarding felt less like “here’s your laptop, good luck” and more like joining a team that already had a seat saved for you.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

The most surprising thing about Ashby is how a company moving this fast still manages to make people feel genuinely cared for — the attention to detail is kind of unreal.

I’m excited to help Ashby continue expanding upmarket and partner with some of the world’s most innovative companies. Looking forward to helping enterprise teams rethink how recruiting operates through a more modern, data-driven platform.

My onboarding experience at Ashby...

It’s been great so far. Everyone’s been incredibly welcoming and the onboarding has been very thoughtful and organized. I’ve especially enjoyed how much context is shared around the business, product, and customers early on. It’s clear there’s a strong focus on helping new hires ramp the right way, not just quickly.

Most surprising thing about Ashby...

Honestly, probably how deeply the team understands the recruiting function and the operational side of hiring. Coming in, I expected a strong product, but I’ve been surprised by how strategic the conversations are internally around hiring predictability, talent density, executive visibility, and how recruiting ties directly to broader business outcomes.
