Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
A consistent, cohort based hiring process that enables Ashby to hire the best talent across the whole pool of candidates for any given job. This has enabled us to focus on pipeline, process elements that impact "Quality of Hire," and creates a choice scenario for hiring managers at the end of our hiring activities.
Something I've helped the team with...
A fast and efficient pipeline generation model that helps all of our hiring managers see immediate, high caliber talent pools for their roles. I wear many hats within this, focusing on where I can make the biggest impact to help Ashby grow! Rolling my sleeves up, screening resumes, sourcing candidates, and scheduling interviews gives me the deepest look into the capability of our product. I can help leverage my deep talent experience to help any teammate, from Engineering to Customer Success, Marketing to Sales have more context around how our customers use our product.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The intentionality in everything we do. It's very special.
Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
I’m proud of laying the foundation for People Ops at Ashby - building and scaling everything from our compensation and benefits strategy to onboarding, compliance, systems, and performance to name a few. As the first people hire, I had the opportunity to shape our People function from the ground up. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how that work has allowed us to scale intentionally - not by copying what’s typical, but by creating programs and processes that truly fit our team, align with our principles, and support the kind of environment we want to build at Ashby.
Something I've helped the team with...
I work closely with employees and managers every day to support their experience at Ashby. I’ve built and scaled our People Ops function, including a growing team and the infrastructure behind our programs and processes. My focus has been on creating systems and processes that reflect our operating principles, support our teams as they scale, and create a clear and intentional employee experience. More than anything, I’m here to make sure people have what they need to do great work and thrive at Ashby.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The level of ownership across the team, and how genuinely it shows up in day-to-day work. Employees are trusted to make thoughtful decisions, take initiative, and follow through without unnecessary oversight. That trust is built into how we operate. We have a real culture of ownership at every level, grounded in high standards and accountability. It’s what lets us scale intentionally and build a team of leaders.
Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
As the only dedicated resource to sourcing (for now!), I've been able to support hiring across all functions while partnering with hiring managers across the company. From setting up and implementing processes to providing product feedback and participating in community events, there's no shortage of ways to have impact.
Something I've helped the team with...
One of the great things about working at Ashby is the ability to balance day-to-day work with longer term projects that materially move the work forward. Taking this kind of proactive approach means I get to work on a project that will impact how we hire for engineering roles into the future, but that is also a fun break in the routine work.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
How remarkably effective and balanced everyone is. I've worked in high-stress environments where it feels like there are fires everywhere, and Ashby is just the complete opposite. It's like being in a well-oiled machine without losing the innovation, creativity, and excitement of a growth stage company. Might be biased, but I think it comes down to the people.
Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
We had our biggest hiring year to date last year! I built on our existing cohort model, and worked closely with GTM hiring managers to create streamlined processes that reduced our time to fill and kept us ahead of hiring goals.
Something I've helped the team with...
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
Product velocity. As an end user of the product, I see first hand how quickly our team actions feedback, and how impactful that is to my day to day. It's very meaningful!
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
My goal at Ashby is to be a trusted advisor to my hiring managers, partnering to make the best hiring decisions for their teams. I've worked with hiring managers who dread the task of hiring, as well as those who get excited about building their team. My hope is that I can steward a sense of excitement and optimism around hiring among the teams I work with.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
So far, so good! My first week was in Cancun, so it's really hard to have any constructive feedback as of yet - I may come back to this one!
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The company's success, given the economic climate in tech! That's what got me so intrigued about the company, and excited about the role.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
I'm excited to combine my experience with learnings from the RecOps Community and combine our insights with the detailed recruiting data provided by Ashby. My goal is to develop a strong framework that helps companies excel by implementing tried and true RecOps practices. I'm eager to assist our customers in leveraging Ashby to succeed in any recruiting environment and to turn data into a valuable asset that helps their teams excel.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
I’ve really enjoyed my onboarding experience—it’s been fantastic! The detailed documentation and the chance to meet many members of the team have made my transition smooth and welcoming. I’m feeling right at home already!
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The most surprising thing so far has been the company's approach to communication. When I first read Ashby's Operating Principles, I thought they sounded almost too good to be true. But I've found that Ashby truly lives up to these principles. The emphasis on thoughtful communication is genuinely practiced and felt throughout the company.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
There's always been a gap in TA reporting at every company I've worked at. At most companies, we didn't have easy functionality to pull and report on the data. At other companies, we had the functionality but we would just have stock reports on recruiter and source channel metrics. I would end up doing a lot of ad hoc analyses from disparate data sources to try and diagnose problems in our hiring funnel. The opportunity to work for a company that is building an All-In-One recruiting product with best-in-class, customizable reporting capabilities was too good to pass up.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
It's been great so far. The amount of information available and easily accessible from Day 1 has made the ramp up faster than at most companies. I'm looking forward to meeting the Engineering team next week to do a deeper dive into our interview process for their department.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
I'm going to cheat here a bit and list two. #1 - Product velocity. It seems like the Engineering team is able to move really fast, with a lot of autonomy, and ship a lot of features which is great to see. #2 - Company growth. Stealth launch in 2020, public launch in 2022, still in relatively early stage but already have some notable industry-leading tech customers like Shopify, Snowflake, OpenAI, etc. The growth in just 2-3 years since public launch is beyond impressive.
Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
Planning in-person events for our teams!
Something I've helped the team with...
I lead our onboarding process and continue to make improvements as we scale. I've added countless automations to our onboarding workflow, creating a (hopefully!) seamless experience for new hires.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
How great the people are! I meet with all new team members, and continue to be impressed by the level of talent we bring on board.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
I'm excited to work on the continued growth of the people function within Ashby, supporting folks to do their work by partnering deeply to solve issues together.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
Everyone has been super welcoming and informative so far. All thumbs up leading up to day one!
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The size of the whole team caught me by surprise. As an outsider (until now!), I would have guessed there were many more people making up this team. That's a real testament to the team's level of commitment and expertise given how strong the product is.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
I am pumped to bring operational excellence to Ashby's cohort hiring model to create exceptional outcomes for hiring teams and candidates. I am excited to learn and share those learnings with the broader community to improve hiring for our entire industry.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
The onboarding and access to systems and tools has been seamless. I am so excited to get access to Ashby PeopleOps!
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The intentionality. Every decision and pursuit is carefully considered and evaluated.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
I’m in the unique (and very lucky!) position of using the product we’re building every day as a recruiter. I’m excited to help build the flywheel: using Ashby to find and hire great technical talent, who then ship features that make the product even better and ultimately make recruiters’ lives everywhere a little easier.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
Very thoughtful! There’s lots of documentation to help new hires ramp up, paired with meaningful involvement from senior leadership, including multiple founder-led sessions to build a strong understanding of the product. I also got to attend our Chicago offsite early on and meet key stakeholders in person, which was a great start
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
How small some of the teams are! There’s an incredible amount of firepower coming from a small group of very talented people. More than once, I’ve assumed a feature was built by a whole team, only to find out it was just one engineer. It’s a real testament to how well our operating principles work in practice.
Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
I’m in a position where my role is quite multifaceted, so I’ll share a few contributions I’m proud of. Hiring is a key objective, and through making small but impactful tweaks to our hiring process, we’ve been able to bring a broader range of candidate profiles into our engineering pipelines, resulting in several successful hires. Additionally, I’ve been given the freedom to experiment creatively across different European technology hubs. Some of these experiments have already shown strong immediate impact, while others are being developed as longer term strategies that I’m excited to continue building.
Something I've helped the team with...
I’ve supported the team by getting involved in several events at Ashby to showcase the AI functionality we’re experimenting with in our Technical Recruiting team. This has included speaking at a Berlin meetup, representing Ashby at a London Talent Community event, and participating in a community event in Warsaw. These experiences helped share learnings, gather feedback, and direct some of our next experimentation projects!
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
How impactful the teams can be within such ambiguous problem spaces!
Something I'm proud of at Ashby...
I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to bring people into a company like Ashby. I’ve been fortunate to recruit candidates early in my role and to receive feedback on how much they’ve already enjoyed their experience here. The recruiting process has been a true partnership with sales leadership and the broader hiring teams, and I’ve appreciated how closely we work together. I especially value that Ashby’s hiring managers put so much care and intention into the recruiting process, which enables me to do my job to the best of my ability.
Something I've helped the team with...
I’ve been helping put more intentional thought into how we scale Sales recruiting at Ashby, with a focus on defining qualifications specific to each segment while still prioritizing strong cultural add attributes. We’re in a unique and exciting position, having access to strong resources while also carrying a real opportunity to make an impact and experiment with new approaches. The work I’ve been driving has direct visibility with senior leadership, and the feedback I receive has been incredibly valuable in sharpening my thinking and pushing the work forward.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
A lot about Ashby has pleasantly surprised me, but what stands out most is our product development and how closely the team listens to the market, our current customers, and internal partners, including my own team. I’ve met with members of the product team to share ideas, and those ideas are genuinely heard and acted on. It’s exciting to see how the product will continue to evolve because of the strong feedback loop we have in place.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
As a recruiter, I've experienced firsthand the challenges and limitations of recruiting processes and technology. I'm so excited to contribute to the product directly through using it and giving feedback, as well as by hiring the people who can continue to develop and grow the tools that make hiring easier.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
My onboarding experience has been fantastic! Documentation is thorough, communication in general here is rich and insightful, and the people have been so warm and welcoming. I feel set up for success and excited for week 2!
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
Everything that I read about and experienced during the interview process is true! The approach towards communication, hiring, and building a product all sounded almost too good to be real. I am surprised and delighted to say that the reality is even better!
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
Working with and work on the future of HR Tech
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
So far, I have no complaints. It seems very organized and thoughtful
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
How much thoughtfulness goes into making decisions. Nothing is done "just because"
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
I'm excited to work on a product that's intentionally built to make recruiters' lives better. It's clear that the platform is thoughtfully designed around real, day-to-day recruiting workflows, with a strong emphasis on data-driven insights and reporting. The opportunity to grow into a power user while also having a direct feedback loop with the team building the product is what excites me most.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
Onboarding has been great so far! The processes are well documented, the Onboarding task list provides plenty to work through as we navigate the ins and outs of Ashby, and everyone has been incredibly welcoming. I'm only one week in and definitely drinking from the firehose, but I'm grateful for everyone who has reached out so far to check in and offer support.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The strong focus on maintaining intentionality, even when increasing velocity. Everything I've seen so far is thoughtfully designed. Seeing velocity treated thoughtfully, without sacrificing quality, has been a refreshing change of pace.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
Helping build teams is what I’m best at. I love the win-win of finding a candidate their dream job while giving a team exactly what they need to scale. Doing this at Ashby feels like a natural fit for me — especially as we build the gold standard for how modern, ambitious companies grow.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
The follow up is so important in onboarding, and that's where I feel Ashby has nailed it.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
The amount of new functionality that get's shipped by the team here is incredible. Ashby takes feedback very seriously and works to ensure we have the best ATS in the world.
Something I'm excited to work on at Ashby...
I'm excited to work with some of the most engaged hiring teams out there. Working with colleagues who truly appreciate why hiring is so important, maintain an exceptionally high talent bar, and push me to be at my best. It's energizing to be around teams that care this deeply about getting it right.
My onboarding experience at Ashby...
It's been great! There's a really nice balance between self-directed exploration and structure. The self-directed element works so well because it's backed up by excellent documentation and recorded video resources.
Most surprising thing about Ashby...
How quickly I've been encouraged to follow my instincts and test hypotheses. Even in these early days, I'm being supported to experiment, play around with ideas, and find ways to make an impact. I wasn't expecting that level of trust and autonomy so soon.
