As the year closes and the focus shifts to 2024, we’re excited to release major improvements to the recruiting planner tool in Ashby. The recruiting planner combines historical performance data, headcount goals, and a specific time range to help you track progress and hit your hiring targets.

With this release, you’ll now have access to new visualizations, forecasting tools, and conditional color-coding based on pace to help you effectively collaborate with stakeholders and visualize your recruiting plan in a compelling way. Let’s take a look!

## Color-coded conditional formatting

Configure red, yellow, and green color coding to present the health of your recruiting plan. You can fine-tune these thresholds to visually highlight where you're on track and identify areas that require focus, based on your plan's progress and the overall time elapsed.

The table also comes with improved formatting, a forecasting column, and a 'Plan Time Elapsed' progress bar, providing you with a high-density view of your plan.

Viewing your hiring plan data with this type of conditional formatting helps raise when and where you need to take action to achieve your hiring goals.

### Stage Progress

Easily analyze the percentage of candidates that are proceeding through the various stages in your funnel. This view gives you a compelling visualization to demonstrate where candidates are getting stuck or where you’re volume is strong based on your plan.

### Plan Progress

The plan progress chart shows your expected hires and deficit at the end of your plan. By focusing on expected hiring outcomes, you can engage with your stakeholders to proactively prioritize and troubleshoot where you should focus your efforts in a very simple snapshot.

### Progress Over Time

See the composition across your hiring plan over time. This visualization gives you an overview of how certain initiatives to remove bottlenecks or dedicate more resources impact your progress over time. The dashed line lets you know where you’re forecasted to end up against your overall hiring plan goal.

### Pace to Goal

The pace to goal visualization is perfect for effectively communicating to stakeholders what’s on track or off track, where you expect to end up, and how much time you have left in your plan.

Starting today you can create custom fields for your projects in Ashby! As your candidate database grows over time, it becomes important to have an easy way to organize and search across your projects. Custom project fields allow you to logically organize and scale your usage of projects.

These custom fields support multiple field types and you can mark fields as required ensuring your data stays clean.

This allows you to organize your projects by dimensions like department (sales, engineering, customer success), project type (talent pool, DEI initiative, campaigns), or any other way that makes sense for your team.

You may also want to report on the impact of various sourcing efforts to understand where to invest time and effort for project specific work. Custom fields make it easy to build a report that shows, “candidates that have reached the offer stage from our ‘design DEI initiative’ projects.”

You can now dynamically set approvers based on the Hiring Team role. This allows you to create a more resilient approval process across Openings, Jobs, and Offers.

Implementing dynamic approvers in your recruiting process prevents delays that can occur when relying on a single, static individual for approvals.

This enables you to easily pull in the relevant people attached to a particular job consideration, including:

* Hiring Managers,
* Sourcers,
* Recruiters,
* Recruiting Coordinators,

Sometimes individual approvers are 'out of office,' or they change teams. Depending on the workflow, they may not have the context needed to make an approval on everything they're listed on.

Manually adjusting for these scenarios can slow down the hiring process. Now, when creating the approval, you can set a Hiring Team member, and it will dynamically pull in the correct people.

If you need to change it, you can do so for the relevant Hiring Team member instead of the approval workflow itself.

With this update you remove bottlenecks across your approval processes and allow for a more flexible approach that’s easy to change. To get started head over to any of your approvals and add the appropriate Hiring Team Member to the relevant approval steps.

Dynamically set the Sourcer, Recruiter, Recruiting Coordinator, or Hiring Manager as approvers in your Job, Opening, and Offer approval workflows. 

New Feature: Dynamically Set Hiring Team Members as Approvers

Starting today, customers can opt-in to Ashby’s AI-powered features directly from their admin page. We’ve now released three features utilizing the latest advancements in generative AI and natural language processing to help augment your workflows in Ashby.

At the heart of Ashby’s AI feature-set is designing workflows that make you more productive. Whether that’s removing admin tasks, drafting contextual copy for outreach emails, or automatically building candidate reports, we aim to introduce this technology for material impact in your daily usage of the product.

Let’s take a look at the cornerstone AI features in Ashby starting with our most recent addition: Automatic email response classification.

## Automatic email response classification

Ashby can automatically classify a recipient’s response to a sequence email as "Interested" or 'Not interested" depending on the text in the email reply.

You’ll see the response updated on the sequence page along with an icon that indicates it was set automatically.

You'll also receive a notification via slack or email letting you know the classification has taken place. If the text in the email reply is not clear, the response status will remain unset. You can always adjust the response status directly if needed directly from the notification.

You now have a smart shortcut for setting response status that helps you maintain your data hygiene. When your response status is consistently set, you can report on and optimize your outreach strategies.

## AI-generated filters for candidate search

Use natural language to describe the candidates you’re searching for and the AI assistant will automatically build the filters for you.

## Generative AI Email Tokens

Lastly, we have AI substitution tokens that can be used in your email sequences and LinkedIn outreach.

This AI-powered tool serves as both a research assistant and a copywriter. It automatically generates text for your emails, helping you to draft compelling copy. It will take into account the job description and the candidate’s work history.

Similar to the AI-generated filters, you have the option to accept, edit, or regenerate the text provided by the token.
